BES 6001 Certification
Newton is incredibly proud to have been certified to BES 6001 by BRE Global for an entire waterproofing solution, the Newton System 500 for below-ground cavity drain waterproofing.
As of the 14th of December 2020, Newton set a new standard in UK waterproofing by becoming the first supplier to have an entire solution certified to BES 6001. To meet the standard, Newton undertook a voluntary process to demonstrate our commitment to reducing the environmental and societal impacts of our construction products, through social awareness, sound environmental credentials and ethical practices.
This independent, third-party certification confirms absolutely that the products involved with Newton System 500 have been responsibly sourced. This is an increasingly important and valuable standard for customers looking to procure building products.
Newton are committed to supporting the green agenda and providing sustainable waterproof solutions. This is evident in the way they actively develop sustainability policies and initiatives in their manufacturing. The certification adds to Newton’s extensive list of environmental/sustainability memberships and accreditations, including ISO 14001, Constructionline Gold, the Supply Chain Sustainability School, the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) and the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
BREEAM
As the first UK waterproofing supplier to have achieved this for an entire solution, the comprehensive and maintainable Newton System 500 is now also the only Type C waterproofing system that will contribute towards the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).
BREEAM is the longest standing and most widely used environmental assessment method for UK buildings, in which credits are awarded according to performance across 10 sustainability categories.
With the new BES 6001 certification, Newton can ensure your waterproofing specification not only protects your structure but also helps to maximise your BREEAM score without compromising on performance.
Awarded on a building-wide basis, credits are calculated from the percentage of available points that have been achieved within each category. Here is how Newton can contribute:

MATERIALS 01 – Environmental impacts from construction products – Building life cycle assessmentEnvironmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) certify the lifespan of a product from a lifecycle perspective. These certifications can contribute EPD credits in certification schemes such as BREEAM. |
