• Christopher Newton

My first experience of ‘The Works’ was in 1947 with my father, and I joined the company in a junior capacity in 1963, stoking the large coal-fired boiler! I took sole control of Newtons in 1978, reorganising the company and introducing new products such as the meshed membrane 'Newlath', and the UK's first full tanking system with dimpled membranes.

These changes were very successful and it was with great pleasure that I passed over the running of the company to my son-in-law Warren and my daughter Lucinda. Together with their team of well-qualified and hard-working staff they have continued to build and exceed my early efforts.

  • Warren Muschialli CSSW

    Managing Director

I've worked at Newton since 2002, firstly as a Technical Manager and since 2007 as the Managing Director. We have a wonderful team of committed and talented people who are all passionate about the business.

Our product portfolio has grown significantly in my time and we continue to invest in product development in order to provide our customers with quality products that are backed by the best training and support in the industry.

I'm also an Aussie who's been living in the UK for 17 years with wonderful wife Lucinda, and we have four feisty boys. I love cricket and am the captain of our Sunday village cricket team, and I also enjoy playing guitar and piano.

  • Lucinda Muschialli

I am now a Director at Newton Waterproofing Systems, having been the Marketing Director for 5 years previously and working for Newton many times over the years, as I am Christopher Newton’s daughter.

I met Warren when I was in Australia, having first seen him on an episode of Neighbours in 1994! I have many years of experience in marketing, having headed up the Internal and Interactive Communications area of Credit Suisse Asset Management in London, and as marketing co-ordinator of Burlington Paintings art gallery in London.

I have recently become a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). At Newtons, we have a great team, and a fantastic ethos where everyone works so hard, but has great fun at the same time! When I’m not working I love spending time with the family, drinking prosecco with friends and I have recently developed a mid-life crisis obsession with hula hooping!

  • David Hall

    Finance Director

I joined the Newton Team in June 2008 as Director of Finance but over the years my role has primarily been that of General Manager. I trained at KPMG in their Financial Services department and was involved in the auditing of large investment banks such as Citi group, Jefferies and HSBC.

That was until a chance encounter with the waterproofing Guru that is Mr Bucknell in a Tenerife airport bar as we waited for our delayed flight! I had not planned to be with the company this long but have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Newton’s and can’t imagine working with a better group of people both internally and the wider Newton family comprised of some excellent NSBC’s.

Outside of work I am an ‘all the gear no idea’ kind of guy, I love trying new sports!

  • David Bucknell CSSW

I first became involved with structural waterproofing in 1996 as a regional manager for a national company and then as a co-owner of a specialist waterproofing company based in the Southern England. Before joining Newton in 2004, I formed my own business consulting company on failed waterproofing and went on to own a company that specialised in suppling waterproofing products. Since joining the company, I have been on the committee for the re-write of BS8102:2009 and in 2014 I was a member of the NHBC Structural Waterproofing Task Group writing the new NHBC standards for Structural Waterproofing.

  • Toby Champion CSSW CSRT

    Commercial Director

I have been with Newtons since April 2006 and as Commercial Director my job role is a multifaceted one in that I provide support and input in to the sales, technical, training and marketing teams as well as helping Warren with the day to day commercial aspects of the business.

When I am not at work I am generally busy running my 2 children around to the various activities they are involved in.   I have a sporting back ground which includes athletics, football, cricket and golf. I really enjoy socialising with family and friends and when we are entertaining at home. I enjoy taking my turn in the kitchen to cook some good food and choose a good bottle of wine or two to wash it down with!

  • Richard Crossley CSSW WDS

    Technical Director

I am fortunate enough to be part of the Newton team, having joined in January 2014. With 25 years of experience in the design, manufacture and supply industry, I spent the first ten years of my career in Aerospace whilst studying at night school and then took an apprenticeship through various design qualifications to an HND in Manufacture and Mechanical Engineering. I joined the construction industry in 2000 and gained experience within sales teams with various technical/specification management roles.

Over the years I have worked for Ruberoid (now IKO group), Saint Gobain Weber and Cetco. I now enjoy working with the highly professional and expert team of people here at Newtons.

  • James Hughes

    Marketing Director

I was fortunate to join Newton in 2015 as a Marketing Executive, and since then my role has been an incredibly varied and exciting one, moving up to Marketing Manager in 2016 then Marketing Director in 2017, and ensuring that Newton expands on it’s presence in the UK market.

I have a BA in English Literature and an MSc in Marketing, as well as a lifelong passion for rugby and will take any opportunity to get out on the pitch or watch a game.

I also love travelling around the world with my wife, charity fundraising challenges, running, and walking in the great Kent countryside with my dog Archie.

  • Stuart Tansey CSSW CSRT

    Senior Technical Manager

Since leaving college, my entire career has been in waterproofing. After working on site as a waterproofing contractor, my experience of specifying and fitting waterproofing products has been invaluable to me and Newton Waterproofing. Having joined in 2006, my role has developed to reflect the rapid growth of the company in both turnover and product range. As the Senior Technical Manager, I am now involved in development and testing, as well as managing the product training we offer at Newtons for new and existing customers.

I am married to a wonderful person and have two young children, as well as an older son from a previous relationship.

  • Clare Russell CSSW

    Technical Office Manager

I have degrees in Architecture and Building Surveying. My working life started at Shell, predominantly in computer-aided design and progressing to European Supply Agreement Manager.

After ten years I moved to join my father in growing his direct electric heating company where I gained many years’ experience in technical sales.

I am delighted to have joined the team at Newton Waterproofing Systems and am very much looking forward to getting up to speed with new products and working with customers to identify waterproofing solutions that best meet their site requirements. In my spare time I enjoy seeing friends, walking the dogs, keeping sheep and singing with my local Choral Society.

  • Aimee-Jayne Goodes CSSW

    Technical Manager

I have worked at Newton Waterproofing Systems since 2011 and have enjoyed the steep learning curve that ground waterproofing presents, one which my degree course prepared me for extremely well. With my Honours Degree in Architecture from Portsmouth University, I am responsible for the drawn technical output from the Technical Team. This involves one to one discussion and design with architects and engineers as well as updating our products technical drawings and details.

It is incredibly fulfilling to take a call, receive drawings by email and to fully specify a robust waterproofing design to BS8102:2009, knowing I was instrumental in providing a dry basement for the client. When I am not hard at working creating technical drawings using AutoCAD, I enjoy baking, walking the dog and running for charity.

  • Ben Fordham CSSW WDS

    Technical Manager

I re-joined Newtons in 2016, having worked for the company once before for 4 years in both a Technical and Sales capacity. I spent a year as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at a large-volume house builder before realising that I couldn’t stay away from the Newton group.

Since joining the company again, I have qualified with the Property Care Association as a Waterproofing Design Specialist. As a WDS, I am on a register of waterproofing experts that Architects and Building Developers can call on to give correct information on the design of waterproofing systems.

The team at Newton Waterproofing are a great bunch and I thoroughly enjoy working here.

  • Dan Gilmour CSSW

    Technical Manager

When I left school, I started working with a small family run building company as a labourer and learning various trades in the industry, where I soon progressed on to running my own jobs.

After ten years I decided to take some time out and went travelling around the world for nearly two years, meeting some great people and experiencing many different cultures. On my return I met my wonderful wife and we now have two fantastic children.

I also then spent 15 years working for a timber and damp proofing company and gained my CSSW qualification this year. Although I only joined Newton in November 2016 as a Technical Manager, luckily, I’ve known the guys here for many years.

  • Adam Smith CSSW

    Technical Advisor

I have worked for Newton Waterproofing Systems since 2007 and over that time my job role has evolved from working in the warehouse to dealing with sales orders, and assisting customers with their waterproofing and damp proofing enquiries.

The company has changed and grown quite dramatically in recent years and it has made working for Newton’s a challenging and rewarding experience.

In my spare time I enjoy collecting American comics and can be seen swinging across the city skyline in spandex, punishing the guilty and protecting the innocent!

  • Reece Catt CSSW

    Technical Advisor

I joined the Newton Team in 2015 after having spent 6 years in the construction industry, the majority of which has been in the builder’s merchants’ sector. I am fortunate to be part of the Technical Team here at Newton and the challenges presented to us daily make for an interesting and varied role.

Outside of work you can usually find me near a football match, either watching Crystal Palace FC as I am a lifelong fan or coaching the beautiful game as I currently hold an FA license and coach the Tunbridge Wells Foresters Ladies team.

  • Antoinette Duffy

    Office Manager

My Employment at Newton Waterproofing Systems began in October 2012 when the Company had just moved to Tonbridge from London. I had just moved from Ireland to a small village not so far away called Wrotham (pronounced Rootam). I had previously worked for a Global Publishing Company for 12 years and wondered how I would slot in with Newtons and Waterproofing.

From day one, I was made to feel very welcome and it wasn’t long before I was in the swing of it, workwise and social wise with this great company. My day to day roles include sales and customer Care. I also assist the Technical Team in booking travel/flights/hotels etc… And I motivate the Newton team with Chocolate Fredos when necessary! Outside of work, I love to travel, dress up, sky dive (just once) and socialise.

  • Rebecca Woodley

Outside of Newton’s, I am a keen guitar enthusiast, having recently taken up lessons and enjoy spending quality time with family and friends. Though ‘Newton’ by name, this is actually a lucky coincidence.

  • Teri Stride

  • Amy Ferguson

    Accounts Assistant

I began working at Newton in January 2019 as the Accounts Assistant and my role involves managing the company’s accounts. I hold a degree in Law from Cambridge University, and I am currently studying Psychology on the Open University. Having previously taken part in Bodybuilding competitions, I enjoy working out and regularly use Newtons on-site gym.

At the weekends, I enjoy eating international cuisine, spending time with friends and family and getting a few good naps in.

  • Sarah Joyce

  • Kayleigh Streatfield

    Marketing Designer

Having spent most of my Marketing career within the building and manufacturing industry, including a 6-year position as Creative Manager at FloPlast Ltd, I had the opportunity to join Newton in July 2015. My role involves designing all marketing literature and assisting the Marketing Director, James, with various creative projects in support of the company brand.

Before joining Newton Waterproofing, I took time out to fulfil my ambition to travel around South America for a month, which allowed me to embark on some amazing adventures, from hiking up a volcano in Chile, to herding cattle ‘gaucho’ style on horseback in Uruguay. My spare time is spent in the company of family and friends, keeping fit and snapping away with my trusty camera.

  • Lucy Playter

    Digital Marketing Executive

With a degree in Business and Marketing from Bournemouth University, I began my career as a Sales and Marketing intern at Nintendo, before spending two years gaining experience in a small marketing agency in Ashford. I started my role here at Newton Waterproofing in March 2019, which involves monitoring the company’s online presence, including our website content and online directories, working on SEO and managing our Google Ads campaigns.

Outside of work I like to travel and explore as much as possible, preferably in my old Talbot Express campervan! I am happiest when reading a good book or walking the family dog, Trouble.

  • James Newton

    Marketing Advisor

I began working for Newtons first in 1990, when it was based in South London, and when both the product range and the size of the team were a fraction of what they are now ! Since 1998 I have lived in the West of Ireland, and pursued the careers of Counselling and Social Care Work (with adults with intellectual disabilities).

I re-joined Newtons on a part time basis in 2014, processing and sending out Leads Logs, and I currently enjoy working as part of the dynamic teams that Newtons now is. One of my current roles is monitoring calls, and I am consistently impressed by the high standard of commitment and professionalism given by the Newtons team.

I live in a beautiful place near the sea in South County Galway, with my wonderful wife, and our two teenage daughters. I enjoy playing piano (classical and jazz), sea kayaking, and I am also training for my black belt in Aikido.

  • Dean Coster

    Warehouse Manager

I have been with Newton Waterproofing Systems since 2011, during which time the warehouse team has doubled due to the fantastic growth in sales and the variety of products offered.

Moving to the new site in Tonbridge gave us the opportunity to set things up as we wanted them and gave us the space to grow.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children and exploring in my self-converted Renault Trafic campervan!

  • Tom Hogben

    Warehouse Operative

I joined Newtons in 2012 and I’d say the best thing about working for the company is having happy colleagues!   My working day includes picking orders and packing stock.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, getting a new tattoo or watching Ice Hockey.

  • Stephen Farrant

    Warehouse Operative

I joined Newton as a part of the expanding warehouse team in August 2015 and have immediately begun to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that is created by all the friendly people who work here.

My working days will generally involve picking orders, packing stock, and trying to grow a beard that will equal Warehouse Manager Dean’s.

Outside of work, I’m a local guy who enjoys a bit of gaming, the great British outdoors, and course fishing, with my current biggest catch being a 44lb and 7oz monster!

  • Nathan Conroy

    Warehouse Operative

I joined Newton Waterproofing in February 2017 as part of the Warehouse team. I like interacting with our customers when they visit the warehouse and particularly enjoy my involvement in the Membrane Recycling Service. In the warehouse we receive the bags of waste membrane from our NSBCs and then put it through the chipper before it gets sent off to be made into construction products, achieving a closed-loop recycling process.

When I am not at work, I am a keen football fan and can be found watching Chelsea FC whenever there is a game on. I also like Marvel, Harry Potter and video gaming.

  • Johnathan Jones

    Warehouse Operative

I originally started working for Newton when I was 17, until 2 years later when I moved up North and worked for Heineken as an engineer for the machines in the brewery. But I couldn’t stay away from the Newton family and rejoined the company in 2016.

I have my Security Guard badge, so occasionally I will do security work in my spare time. Otherwise, I have a keen interest in motorbikes and own both a Honda 125 and a Triumph Bonneville.

  • Jarek Grzywacz
