Newton was delighted to be awarded with two accolades at a prestigious awards ceremony in July, hosted by national trade body the Property Care Association (PCA). We were also proud to see a further 10 awards and commendations given to various members of our network of Newton Specialist Contractors.
Newton, based in Tonbridge, took home both the Sustainability award for expansions and improvements to its recycling scheme, as well as the Website of the Year award for a medium/large company.
On sustainability, we are proud to receive recognition for our continued efforts to drive down waste, improve recycling rates and set out clear sustainability targets for our business and our customers.
The Newton Recycling Service – the first closed-loop recycling scheme in the UK waterproofing industry – was launched in 2017, setting the benchmark for sustainability best practice in the industry.
By working with our Specialist Contractors, we are able to actively collect and recycle the waste created from the installation of specialist waterproofing membranes, for recycling re-use in the construction industry.
Five years in and the service has expanded, thanks to a partnership with a leading hazardous waste management company. As well as plastic membranes, the metal and plastic containers of liquid products such as specialist injection resins and waterproof coatings can also be recycled directly through Newton.
The recycling service generates reports which help contractors see how much they are recycling and encourages them to improve their material efficiency. Furthermore, we have also expanded our range of sustainable products.
The sustainability goals achieved by Newton, and the company’s website, were both recognised by the panel of expert judges who assessed the award entries. They said: “Reducing the impact of waste on construction projects is essential.
“This well organised and managed approach will ensure affective delivery of this goal. A free service that has made contractors aware of their impact to the environment and recycling the materials back into construction completes the cycle.
“The website features lots of high-quality content with good guides and downloads as well as clear routes for professionals and consumers.”
The PCA handed out a series of accolades to member businesses and individuals that showcased the highest level of professionalism and knowledge. As well as our own successes, this included Newton’s nationwide network of specialist waterproofing contractors, who dominated with 10 awards and commendations of their own. We are proud to know all of the following companies as members of our NSBC network:
