The British & Irish Trading Alliance, has joined World Cleanup Day on 18th September 2021 with the support of their sponsor, hansgrohe. As an active and proud member of the BITA community, Newton actively participates and plays a key role in its initiatives.
We strongly advocate for environmental responsibility and the reduction of plastic waste. We’re incredibly proud and excited to take part in a global initiative dedicated to cleaning up our planet. Moreover, we believe that meaningful change starts with action, and by participating in this worldwide effort, we are joining others who also share our commitment to preserving the natural world. Many organisations are actively raising awareness of plastic abuse and the resulting environmental issues.
A group of our Newtonites will be picking up litter around Tonbridge, where our head office is based. The day will include cleaning up the banks of the River Medway and tidying the public park. We welcome anyone to join us on Saturday 18th September, for a meaningful day of action and positive impact. This is a fantastic opportunity to come together and make a real difference in our local area by helping to clean up and protect the environment we all share.
We are continually exploring new and effective ways to enhance our sustainability efforts across all areas of our business. A key initiative in this mission is the Newton Recycling Service, our innovative closed-loop recycling scheme. It allows us to collect and recycle used HDPE membranes from construction sites, turning waste back into high-quality, usable materials. By doing so, we not only reduce environmental impact but also promote a circular economy within the construction industry.
