HydroBond 2K-Flex

HydroBond 109-LM
Bitumen-based coatings form a bonded waterproof barrier to concrete, masonry, and blockwork substrates. When correctly specified, they prevent groundwater ingress to the structure.
Within BS 8102:2022, Type A waterproofing refers to a barrier system applied either to the internal or external face of a structure to resist water ingress. The wall-applied bitumen-based products mentioned below sit within the Newton HydroBond System that provides a continuous waterproofing barrier around the structure.
For externally applied Type A sheet membranes, please visit the HydroBond System page.
Bitumastic coatings are flexible, cold-applied, and seamless membranes designed to create durable barriers against water ingress.
• Applied in liquid form and cured to create a continuous, joint-free, fully bonded membrane
• Exhibit strong adhesion to prepared concrete and masonry substrates
Bitumastic coating performance depends on correct product selection, substrate preparation, detailing quality, and applied thickness. These systems must be specified within their intended application limits, taking account of retained height, groundwater conditions, and interface detailing to ensure long-term performance and compliance with BS 8102:2022.
Depending on the system selected and the applied thickness, key performance characteristics may include:
• Fully bonded, seamless waterproofing membranes that resist water ingress
• Crack-bridging capability in accordance with EN 15812 classifications
• Reduce the risk of lateral water tracking when correctly detailed, in line with BS8102:2022 principles
These characteristics allow designers to align bitumastic coating selection with retained ground conditions, detailing complexity, and overall waterproofing risk strategy.
Bitumastic coatings function as cold-applied liquid waterproofing systems applied directly to prepared substrates. Depending on formulation and site conditions, application methods may include:
• HydroBond 109-LM: Brush, roller and airless spray
• HydroBond 2K-Flex: Trowel and airless spray
When correctly specified, applied at the required consumption rates, and protected after curing, bitumastic coatings provide durable Type A waterproofing performance consistent with design life expectations.
