The concrete is typically cast over profiled steel decking that acts as permanent formwork and tensile reinforcement, after which the finished surface behaves as a conventional reinforced concrete deck.

From a waterproofing perspective, it is the concrete surface that matters. Once the slab has cured, a rib deck is waterproofed in exactly the same way as any other concrete deck.

Where exposed steel elements exist above the slab, such as balustrade bases or edge restraints, these are prepared separately and primed using PolyMaxx Detailing Primer prior to waterproofing.
