Summary

Newton System 500 used to waterproof a large basement area as part of a prestigious new-build property in Surrey, installed by Newton Specialist Basement Contractor MacLennan UK.

The Project

A prestigious new-build property in Surrey

This large new-build property in Surrey had a very large basement area which needed to be waterproofed to meet BS 8102 requirements, the British Standard for the Protection of Structures Against Water From the Ground. It is not possible to determine the amount of potential water pressure surrounding a structure. Therefore, BS 8102 tells the designer to expect a head of water against the structure. In addition, BS 8102 requires that all waterproofing is maintainable and repairable.

The Solution

The client commissioned Newton Specialist Basement Contractor MacLennan UK to design and install a Cavity Drain Waterproofing System. The project team selected Newton System 500 as the most suitable product range because it provides a maintainable waterproofing solution. Therefore, it meets the requirements of BS 8102.

MacLennan UK applied Newton 508 Cavity Drain Membrane to all internal walls. The system collected ingressing water into Basedrain channels around the full perimeter of the wall–floor junction and pumped it to safe drainage using the Newton Titan Pro pumping system.

The Result

The property is completely protected against water ingress.
